Microsoft is introducing a new macOS-compatible Modern Keyboard with what it calls a hidden fingerprint reader. Our vision was to blend the Fingerprint reader into a keyboard, so it would appear to. The Modern Keyboard is an all-new aluminum keyboard, styled after the one that Microsoft ships with its Surface all-in-one. It’s wired or wireless depending on your preference, has practical. The fingerprint sensor would be made available in addition to Face ID, and would be convenient for iPhone users who cannot unlock their iPhones with facial recognition when using masks. Touch ID is an electronic fingerprint recognition feature, designed and released by Apple Inc., that allows users to unlock devices, make purchases in the various Apple digital media stores (the iTunes Store, the App Store, and the Apple Books Store), and authenticate Apple Pay online or in apps.
In a world still struggling with a pandemic for over a year now, face masks have become a crucial item for saving lives. But they also make facial recognition systems redundant, especially those on our daily use gadgets such as smartphones, with the best example being iPhones. Well, it appears that Apple might finally pay heed to the demand of iPhone users and employ an in-screen fingerprint sensor on its smartphones. As per a report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple has been experimenting with an in-display fingerprint sensor and might bring it to its upcoming iPhones without ditching Face ID hardware.
“Apple has been working on in-screen fingerprint technology and has considered including both Touch ID and Face ID on the same device, two former Apple employees told me. While they couldn’t confirm the company’s plans, other reports, including one from Bloomberg, say Apple is testing in-screen fingerprint sensors in its next iPhone,” What is the best free photo editing software. says the report. Interestingly analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted back in August of 2019 that the 2021 slate of iPhones will offer both Touch ID and Face ID. And earlier this month, a couple of tipsters with a solid track record mentioned that Touch ID will return on the iPhone 13 family.

The latest report also cites a former Apple employee who added that the company has been experimenting with an optical in-screen fingerprint sensor, which is said to be more reliable than the ultra-sensing in-display fingerprint sensor used on Samsung’s Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S21 series phones developed by Qualcomm. However, iPhones will only get an in-display fingerprint sensor if they match the accuracy and speed standards Apple set with the physical Touch ID sensor that you still find on older iPhones (and a few newer models such as the iPhone SE 2020), iPads, and MacBooks.
In the past few months, there has also been speculation that Apple might use a physical side-mounted fingerprint sensor on its upcoming iPhones, just like the one we saw on the iPad Air that made its debut late last year. However, Face ID will continue to exist on iPhones as it facilitates a host of AR features such as Memojis.
Apple has long been rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone, but so far, any concrete evidence or a reputable report regarding those plans has yet to surface online. That changes now. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple has developed prototype foldable screens for testing them internally. However, progress on the ambitious project is still limited to the screen stage, and the company doesn’t have a working prototype of a foldable iPhone yet. Emulador no pc.
Citing sources familiar with the latest developments, Gurman notes that Apple is discussing the screen size for its folding iPhone project, and one of the options on the table is a 6.7-inch panel. Going by the trend of book-style foldables such as the Galaxy Z Fold 2 that have a display ranging between 7-inch to 8-inches in size, it appears that Apple is experimenting with a clamshell form factor. Samsung already has launched two foldable devices with a similar approach – the Galaxy Z Flip and its 5G variant. However, talks about the exact form factor of a folding iPhone is still purely speculative at this stage.

The report also sheds some light on Apple’s 2021 iPhone plans. It appears that Apple won’t make any major internal changes to its upcoming smartphones, save for one. The company is reportedly testing in-display fingerprint sensors for the 2021 iPhone line-up, a feature that has popped up in rumors on multiple occasions in the past. However, the company won’t kill the Face ID system in favor of an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication, as the former is crucial for some camera tricks as Animoji and Memoji.

To recall, Apple received some criticism following the debut of the iPhone 12 line-up, as Face ID is not of much use in times when wearing masks is mandatory and a life-saving habit. Many demanded a return of the physical fingerprint sensor, and Apple partially obliged – but instead of making its way to an iPhone, the company added a side-mounted fingerprint sensor to the 2020 iPad Air.
